P.A.M. Media Outreach Boots, Beats & Big Dreams Scholarship Fundraiser Impact

Terry and I had the privilege of presenting Dakari Bailey, a 2026 graduate of Sam Houston High School, SAISD, with the $1,000 P.A.M. Media Outreach RACC (Respect, Accountability, Communication, and Commitment) Leadership Scholarship. 

We've watched Dakari grow over the last several years through the P.A.M. Media Outreach Leadership Program. Since 2022, he's stepped into leadership roles, served as both a Logistics Manager and Director, helped organize Teen Summits, represented our organization in community events, and never hesitated to serve wherever he was needed.

As I read back through his scholarship application, one statement stayed with me. He wrote that being a director taught him "how important communication, responsibility, and organization are when leading others." Those aren't just words on an application. We've had the opportunity to watch him live them.

This fall, Dakari will begin studying Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). His dream doesn't stop there. He hopes to one day serve in the United States Army and work his way to the rank of Major or Lieutenant Colonel. That's a big dream, and knowing Dakari, I wouldn't bet against him.

One thing Terry and I have always believed is that scholarships should meet students where they are. We want our scholarship to help with the practical things that can make a difference as they take their next step. Whether that's books, laptops, tools, certification costs, or other educational or career-related expenses, we want our support to have a real impact.

We also know that success doesn't look the same for everyone. Some students choose college. Others choose a skilled trade, an apprenticeship, military service, entrepreneurship, or go directly into the workforce. Every one of those paths has value, and we want our scholarship program to reflect that by supporting young leaders wherever their journey takes them.
